about

This project started as a series of recordings meant to be completed and released in February 2015. They were made using various applications on a phone and tablet, and the intention was to release them in whatever state they were in at the end of the month. To give them some sort of theme, the tracks in progress were named after either the news of the day or whatever I was staring at at the time.

February 2015 was a strange time. Tony Abbott was eating onions on television and making poor choices in sunglass fashion. Malcolm Turnbull wanted to be Prime Minister, but not enough to actually say he did. And Guy Sebastian was announced as Australia's entrant to Eurovision, to the chagrin of people on the internet.

Due to several factors, the recordings never surfaced at the end of the February. A year later, I decided to return to these seven ideas and complete them. No additional pieces were written, the tracks were completed using the same software they started with, and the track titles stayed largely the same except for the two pieces named "Rekt".

I no longer remember what "Couches?" and "Stone Floor" refer to; I'm sure it made sense at the time.
